4/13/17 Morning Announcements

Anyone interested in running for student Government office next year will need to attend one of the meetings on Tuesday, april 18th. The meetings will be held in room 2440 at 7:50 am or 3:45. You do not have to attend both meetings, but you must attend one to be eligible to run.

Anyone who would like to participate in the 2017 color run for Peyton Cooper and Thomas Owens please go by room 3460 and pick up a registration form. The deadline is April 18th.

Support staff member of the year 2017:

There are several individuals throughout the school who are dedicated to making sure our school system is running smoothly. Let the community know the outstanding employees who serve our school in this capacity by nominating a great member of the support staff of Gaffney High School’s support staff member of the year.

Who can be nominated? Any Gaffney High School employee who:

·      Is a custodian

·      Is a cafeteria worker

·      Is a secretary/clerk/bookkeeper

·      Is a teachers assistant

·      Is an employee at Gaffney High School

All completed nomination forms must be returned in a sealed envelopeand delivered to Eric Blanton by 12:00 noon on April 31st. no nominations will be accepted after this deadline.

Teacher of the year:

Recognizing great teaching is important! Help celebrate great teaching at Gaffney High School by nominating a certified educator.

Who can be nominated? Anyone who:

·      Holds a state teaching certification

·      Is not an administrator

·      Is employed at Gaffney High School

·      Has more than 5 years of teaching experience

·      And is planning to continue in an active teaching status

Nomination forms will be available in the main office from April 14th– April 31st. two people must collaborate to nominate a teacher. These two individuals must be from two different categories.  All completed nomination forms must be returned to the main office of Gaffney High School by 3:00 p.m. on April 31st. no nominations will be accepted after this deadline.

Any senior student who thinks they may have 12 years of perfect attendance, please see Mrs. Ellis in the attendance office as soon as possible.

There will be a faculty verses senior volleyball game on Friday during 9th period. Tickets will be sold during lunch shifts for $2 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. CASH ONLY! This ticket will get you into the game and put you in a drawing for a free prize.

Year book sales have been extended until April 21st. please bring exact cash or check to the yearbook room 3560 during 3rd period or to Ms. Dedheech. All checks should have date of birth and drivers license number. Forms are outside the yearbook room and in the main office. The cost is $86.40. after April 21st, books will not be sold until May 5th.

PROM:

Prom tickets will wo on sale Wednesday, April 12th. Tickets will be on sale before school, both lunches, and after school. To purchase a ticket, you must be in a junior or senior homeroom, have your GHS student ID, and your prom conditions form signed. No tickets will be sold after 4pm on Friday, April 21st. if you have any questions please see Mrs. Hanna in room 2470.

Outstanding senior applications will be distributed in the guidance office and in the library starting Monday, April 10th. Applications will also be available on the GHS website. Applications will be due back by Friday, April 14th, to the guidance office.

Benedict College is hosting this summer transportation Institute Program. A 4 week summer program for students in 9th-11th grade, interested in engineering, science, transportation, or technology based career. The program will be at Benedict college from june 4th-29thwhere you will live on campus. Please stop by guidance to pick up an application.

Any rising female junior or senior girl interested in attending leadership converse, a free 4 day workshop, please see Mrs. Dover in guidance for more details. Students who are active in there communities or in leadership roles, have a passion for helping others, and who have a vision for positive change are encouraged to apply.

As basketball is the American sport, the diamond club, the basketball boosters are hosting a “black out” basketball game on april 16th @ 6:00 p.m. we invite you to come out and show support to coach Osment and the GHS Indians. Student tickets will be presold for $3.00. There will be a drawing for GHS students at the beginning of every inning for $50.00 cash. All you have to do is show your student id when entering he gate and you will be entered into the drawing. Come out and enjoy the night. GHS basketball apparel will be on sale as well. We are looking forward to seeing you at the Jerry “jug” Wallace field.
